MILKIE Breastfeeding Bliss Balls
Had to share this recipe, created by the amazing @lovelittledove who improvised and came up with this DELICIOUS recipe that makes 24 handy milk boosting snacks.
Not only does it include MILKIE Breastfeeding Superfood Mix, but it contains other ingredients that are incredibly beneficial for breastfeeding mums.
Firstly, extra oats. Oats are amazing for breastfeeding mums. Not only do they contain proteins, vitamins, and minerals. They are high in iron, zinc, manganese, and contain B vitamins. B vitamins help increase energy, elevate mood and fight off exhaustion (yes please!). Oats also contain Saponins which have shown to have a positive effect on the hormones related to breast milk production. Beta-glucan is also found in oats and is a type of fiber that's thought to raise the levels of the breastfeeding hormone prolactin.
Secondly, chia. Chia Seeds are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, which are essential when breastfeeding. Chia seeds are also rich in antioxidants, and provide fibre, iron, and calcium.
Also coconut. Coconut contains lauric acid that naturally occurs in breast milk. Lauric acid is a very important component of breastmilk as it has potent antiviral and antibacterial properties that support the immune system.
Ok, on to the recipe.
2 cups oats
2 tablespoons coconut
2 tablespoons chia seeds
2 tablespoons cocoa/cacao
2 scoops MILKIE
1 cup of dates (soaked in boiling water)
- Soak 1 cup of dates in boiling water for 5 mins or till soft
- Add all dry ingredients to food processor and for blitz a few seconds
- Pour in dates and some date water
- Blitz till combined
- Add more date water if too dry
- Roll into balls, coat in coconut
